Coverings Tile and Stone in Atlanta, Georgia

Coverings is the largest tile and stone convention in the United States, and exhibitors come from all over the world to showcase the latest styles, trends, and technologies within the industry. Just as diverse as the show,  the owners include Tile of Spain, Ceramics of Italy, NTCA, CTDA, and TCNA. This year, the show took place right in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, where we had the exciting opportunity to capture this event.

Our mobile production unit brought talented host, Lisa Acquafredda, to interview industry professionals on CoveringsTV. For this set, we used two Sony EX1 cameras, our Lowell Rifa soft box lights, and created our own studio space on the show floor.  With this elevated set, we were able to interview various members and show owners who discussed the highlights of the show.

Throughout the convention center, there were large screens which were updated daily with our video content.  Our day-to-day schedule included conducting interviews at the studio space and on the show floor, as well as capturing sessions and demonstrations. Later each night, we would edit these segments so that the displays at the showcase were always up to date.

In addition to interviews on CoveringsTV, our production crew walked the show floor and talked to exhibitors about the new trends in the market.  Going from booth to booth, we used our Canon 5D to shoot B-roll of gorgeous mosaics, custom printed tiles, and some of the most exquisite exhibits we’ve ever seen.

This convention was one of the biggest shows our mobile production unit has ever encountered and proved itself to be quite a challenge. After four days of education sessions, installation demonstrations, and social events, we captured over thirty interviews along with ample coverage of the show floor.

Coverings 2013 was an incredible event, and we were thrilled to work at such a unique convention. We also enjoyed working with Lisa Acquafredda, who did a wonderful job conducting interviews and introducing each day for the daily videos.
