Impressive Commericals and Narrative Book Trailers

Even with the holidays just around the corner, this week we remained busy by working on four different shoots. A luxury home tour began the week, followed by a commercial, another house, and a book trailer-- all different projects and all different types of video.

If you are familiar with the show Property Wars, than you may have come across Doug Hopkins. He and his team of real estate professionals asked us to produce a 30 second commercial for his company. This commercial's goal was to illustrate the combined nature of his real estate company Red Brick Realty and his bidding service at PostedProperties.com for the launch of their new website.

 

 

To record most of our audio and wait for the sun to rise higher in the sky, we shot indoors first at a beautiful home. After taking many takes, and reworking some small parts of the script, our team moved outdoors where we shot on the rooftop patio.

 

With stunning mountain and city views, the roof top balcony was a perfect place to shoot this commercial. In addition to our Canon 5D, we used a reflector that worked as an effective fill light to eliminate shadows on our subject's face. We finished our shoot in a timely manner and will be working on additional graphics for the video. As we finished production on one project we moved on to the next.

Hank Johnson is the author of Funky, Funky Broadway and Stupid in Taos. With the new release of these two books, he gave us the opportunity to do something a bit more narrative than our normal corporate work. For this project, we produced two book trailers showcasing the plot of each of his books. By shooting both of these trailers in the same location, it required us to manipulate the set in two different ways, one as a Mexican cantina, the other as a 1960s lounge. 

It was an interesting experience and we mainly used our Canon 5D to capture images, while recording audio on our Sony EX camera. Shooting both trailers took most of the day, but in the end we had a great time working with Hank.

The next couple of weeks will require steady editing work to finish these projects, while preparing for production on new ones. From corporate to narrative we are a fully versatile company, with a combined set of talent and skills ready to take on new challenges.
