Touchdown, Aerohive!

Boston! Home of the New England Patriots, Clam Chowder, and rich American history! This week we traveled across the country to a conference with one of our best clients. MassachusettsComputer Using Educators (MassCUE) is a gathering of educators passionate about technology and is a grand event to learn and share knowledge about the future of education. Aerohive took this opportunity to help sponsor the event, as well as hosted a booth in order to showcase their wireless networking solution.  We’ve teamed up with Aerohive many times, and thoroughly enjoy working with them. For this event, we shot testimonials of their customers, all in a venue that was truly spectacular: Gillette Stadium.

Using another one of our favorite gadgets to capture this awesome venue, we made sure to bring our Glidecam. Similar to that of a normal steadicam, the Glidecam works best with our HDSLRs, like our Canon 5D.  Likewise, this tool is easy to manipulate, and allows us to shoot a nice and steady shot.

At the end of the first day, we had the exciting opportunity to walk on the field. There was also an after party event at the Hall of Fame where we captured additional Broll. This provided an excellent backdrop for two more interviews, along with capturing a little fun with Aerohive.

Throughout the next day, we gathered many more interviews to produce an enticing wrap up video. Finishing off a great trip and successful shoot, our flight back West didn’t leave until later the next day, so we were able to do some sight seeing.

After a busy week and a day walking the Freedom Trail, we were pretty tired and ready to head back. All things considered, we have fun with every project we do, and love shooting everything to the best of our ability. We are looking forward to working with Aerohive again, as they are always a great group to work with. As for the future, we have some exciting projects coming up--One includes going to Washington D.C. over Election Day. This project will not only be a big deal for us, but we will be trying out a bunch of new gear. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep updated with our projects. Networking Field Day 4

Once again, we found ourselves in San Jose for Tech Field Day, an event that connects bloggers to IT product vendors. We've done many of these events in the past, and thoroughly enjoy visiting innovative technology companies. People come from all over the world for these events, and many more watch it via our live stream, which gives us the opportunity to have our work seen everywhere.

Not only do we live stream these events, but we create an introduction video and a wrap up video. To achieve a certain aesthetic that differs from the live stream, we shoot on the Canon 5D.  With regard to this, the videos shot for this event can be seen here, and include an entertaining rap by one of the delegates. When shooting these mini interviews with our Canon, this set up is quite simple. Using LED lights allows for less wires and less heat along with an ease of mobility.

Networking Field Day 4 included visiting several interesting and creative companies: Statseeker, Opengear, Spirent, Brocade, Cisco, and Juniper. To ensure excellent coverage at these presentations, we brought our switcher box, perfect for live streaming this event.

Like all Tech Field Days, there are many set ups and tear downs. With our mobile studio, we are able to keep everything well organized to increase our maneuverability and timing in between sessions. At the same time, using our robotic cameras aids in getting the best shots and add production value to our live stream.

In addition to the high tech products we use, social media is one of the most powerful tools when we are streaming. Using Twitter, we update our followers regarding the stream, and we are able to monitor the event's hashtag to actively overcome the concerns of those encountering a problem on the stream. In addition, we also use Twitter to stay connected to the industry and generate discussion on a variety of production topics. To continue the conversation and stay connected, follow us @PrimeImageVideo.

In short, when we work live streaming events, we are able to record and edit in an efficient timely manner. If you or your company has town hall meetings, sales kick offs, or any other event you'd like streamed, we'd love to talk with you. Aruba Networks Kickoff Event

For the past few months, it's seemed like we've spent half our time in the San Francisco Bay area, yet this week found us back there again. Once more, we were working with the wonderful team at Aruba Networks. This time, they produced a large, multimedia kick off event for over 500 employees and staff to help get their teams excited for the new things to come, and showcase the great things they've accomplished so far.

An event this size allowed us to work with an additional A/V team, who were nothing short of impressive. They were a pleasure to work with, and we were able to assist in recording while also giving them an IMAG video feed to project on the room's three large screens. It was one of the biggest events we've ever done, which resulted in new challenges to conquer.

We arrived early to set up our switcher box (which is quickly becoming one of our favorite production tools) and prepare for rehearsal. However, this event had a complex environment that required meticulous care of plugging everything in, and a tenacious attention to detail in organization and management. With the limited space taken into consideration, the first challenge arose with regards to the placement of cameras. As a result of this, we placed one of our cameras on top of a doorway and kept the others close to our station. To provide exceptional coverage, we brought five cameras: 1 Sony EX1, 3 Robotic Sony EVI-HD1 cameras,  and 1 Sony CX550 for handheld shots.

Our newest production resource was Wireless HDMI, which is system for transmitting High Definition HDMI signals back to our switcher with no wires, allowing an unprecedented freedom of movement.  This proved to be an excellent tool to get close-up and handheld shots fed directly into the switcher.  During the presentation, one of our speakers walked through the crowd, allowing the use of this new technology. This was no simple task; as soon as the presenter left the stage, several things needed to occur at once. First, the robotic cameras needed to follow the speaker. Second, the auxiliary output to the IMAG had to be switched to the handheld camera when it came online. Finally, the switcher needed to change to the new camera input in order to update our recording device. All of this occurred within seconds, and our highly skilled production team was quick to conquer this ambitious challenge.

As we continue to use new and advanced technologies, the event depended on our team to stretch into new territory. Moving forward, we used almost every input of our switcher, which meant we had to pay close attention to each camera. Here's the breakdown:

Camera 1: Back up Power Point Slides
Camera 2: Wireless HDMI (Shown here at our table with our Production Coordinator)
Camera 3: Sony EX1 Manned Camera
Camera 4: Blank
Camera 5-7: Robotic Cameras
Camera 8: AJA Ki Pro input of slides and Demo screens

In addition to new gadgets and bigger events, we are actively using our Twitter account.  Be sure to follow us and see what we're doing in real time. This coming week, we will return to San Jose for Networking Field Day which will be live streamed, allowing you to let us know how the feed looks.

This powerful event couldn't have gone any smoother, and we were pleased with the successful and incredible outcome. All in all, we left a client happy and we're excited to work with Aruba Networks again in the future. We do work for all kinds of events across the country and internationally.
